About the event
In partnership with TCAHealth and South Shore United Methodist Church, the Healthy Food Hub is on a mission is to create a just, holistic local food system to transform urban to rural communities through community health screenings, nutrition education and access to locally grown, healthy, affordable food.
Using food as medicine, we envision providing the necessary health supports where farming, food and medicine come unite in service to the best health outcomes for our communities.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE HEALTHY FOOD HUB PRESCRITYIVE FOOD MARKET:
• Rx Bags filled with fresh, nutrient dense, locally sourced produce form the historic Black farming community of Pembroke Township, Illinois
• Health Screenings Conducted by TCAHealth (Blood Pressure, HIV Status and Diabetes)
• Nutrition Support Conducted by Dr. Jifunza Wright-Carter of Black Oaks Center (Food as Pharmacy Lessons, Recipes and Detox Recommendations)
